  • Renderguard Gold is a concentrated admixture for use in sand-cement renders after the installation of a remedial damp-proof course.
  • When a new damp-proof course has been installed it will normally be necessary to hack of salt contaminated plaster and to replaster using a salt-resistant render. Such a render can be formed by using a mixture of sharp sand and cement guaged with diluted Renderguard Gold.
  • Renderguard Gold is BBA approved for use as a replastering additive as part of the Safeguard damp-proofing system.
  • Consideration should also be given to the use of Dryzone Renovation Plasters.

Salt Inhibitor

Renderguard Gold is a concentrated admixture for use in sand-cement renders after the installation of a remedial damp-proof course.

When a new damp-proof course is put in, it’s usually necessary to remove salt-contaminated plaster and replaster with a salt-resistant render. A combination of sharp sand and cement guaged with diluted Renderguard Gold can be used to form such a salt-resistant render.

Renderguard Gold is a high-specification plaster additive that forms an integral part of the Dryzone Damp-proofing System (BBA Certificate Number 97/3363).

After the installation of a remedial DPC (using Dryzone Damp-Proofing Cream, No Hydro Damp Proofing Cream or Dryrod Damp-Proofing Rods) correct re-plastering is of the utmost importance.

Replastering with High Specification Salt Inhibitor

Even though a Damp Proof Course is effective, hygroscopic salts introduced by the rising damp may cause moisture to be attracted to the wall. This causes further dampness and decorative spoiling, giving the impression that the DPC has been unsuccessful.

Re-plastering following the installation of a remedial DPC must perform two functions:

  • It must prevent the passage of residual moisture reaching the decorative surface during the drying process.
  • It must prevent the passage of hygroscopic salts from the underlying masonry to the new decorative surface in order to prevent further spoiling.

When used as an additive to a 3:1 sand-cement render, Renderguard Gold will fulfil these requirements provided that the specification is strictly adhered to.

Where the use of a hard sand/cement render is not desirable, the Dryzone System fast-track replastering system should be considered. In many situations this system can allow rising damp treatment and redecoration to take place the same day.

The use of Vandex Refurbishment Plaster should also be considered.

Renderguard Gold is BBA approved for use as a replastering additive as part of the Dryzone damp-proofing system.
